Is one of the great Swedish photographers. He makes intimate and personal documentary style photographs. His phonebook, Cafe Lehmitz, 1978, is a seminal body of work capturing the late night regulars of a bar in Hamburg.

Petersen is a highly influential photographer of what can be described as ‘personal documentary.’ He studied at the Fotoskolan Academy in Stockholm and his mentor Christer Strömholm became a good friend. Petersen has had numerous photobooks published, and many international exhibitions at museums and galleries.
